With the wedding
a short 4.5 months away and summer activities in full swing, we find that our
weekends are getting booked up quicker than they’re coming – not a bad thing,
but exhausting nonetheless! We kind of need weekends from our weekends...and T
& I were in desperate need of a getaway, a detox day. Needless to say, we
weren’t going to find that in the Bay Area with emails and errand reminders right
at our fingertips, so we snatched up the first free Saturday we’ve stumbled
upon in weeks and ran up to the one place that holds nothing but pure bliss –
Napa. There’s something about this valley gem that just soothes the soul…I’m fairly
convinced that Napa only has happy people. Really. We meet so many people at
every place we visit…and everyone is so genuinly HAPPY. Maybe it's the wine...or maybe it's just Napa. It’s sort of like the second we
enter the valley, we can feel the
relaxation set in. Ahhhh.
Our friends love
to tease us about our love/obsession with wineries. Yes, we do love tasting the
wine, but it’s really the overall feeling of a winery that is just so charming…we’ve
visited over 30 wineries in the course of our relationship, and have YET to see
one that is not breathtakingly gorgeous. Half the time we just hang out at the
winery for a while after tasting because the views are to die for. Miles and
miles of vineyards, sunshine, mountains…dreamy. With our total and complete
love for wineries, it only makes sense that we’re getting married at one, right? :)
On Saturday, we
visited this random little winery that was never really on our radar – Heitz Cellars.
The wine was great (I believe we bought a Zin and a Port), but it wasn’t until
we walked out onto the back patio that I died and went to heaven – a canopy of
trees shaded the patio with benches lining the sides and a gorgeous fountain
right in the middle…and if you were to step off the edge of that patio, you
would find yourself in a SEA of vineyards. It looks a little something like
this, but BETTER:
Swoon.
We always go up to Napa in the winter months – we have an annual trip in January that we LOVE, and on our last trip in February, we took the plunge and became wine club members at Markham Winery…and now that we have to pick up our wine shipments, we have an excuse to go back every few months!! Genius. Not that we can stay away anyway, but at least now we can justify it. J Plus, life really isn’t complete without a sandwich from Oakville Grocery from time to time.
Those winemakers
sure know how to do life right. T and I definitely spent a large majority of
Saturday daydreaming about moving to the Napa Valley (Moss Adams actually has
an office in Downtown Napa!) and living a lovely life as winemakers…welcome to
YEAGER CELLARS…haha, kidding of course and a tad unrealistic, but hey – it’s
impossible NOT to fantasize about a Napa life. J For now, we’ll treasure it as our favorite getaway spot. We’ll be back
soon!!
Until our next
trip to Napa (which will likely be soon...),
C+T.We are so cheesy...pose twins.
